Times through Garberville

So, off to a great start so far...

Started off driving up to meet up with Kyle in San Jose. We managed to convince Sean, who'd shown some quality hospitality to Kyle for a week or so during his wait for me to arrive, to join us for the real start off. Some good times have pulled through and Sean is still with us -- set to leave from here (Arcata, CA) tomorrow after some camping at Trinidad campground on the coast.

First stop was SF for some night time beach walking with the Golden Gate dimly lit in the fog. Some good brews (Schlitz...haha) for the beach and then a traverse cross town to join Greg for a solid night of surf videos, whiskey toasts, and outstanding rum cocktails around the corner. The night went late with some good musical debate. Greg better get his ass to Chicago in May to join when Whit gets to stop by...

The next day, Saturday, saw the beautiful drive across the Golden Gate and through Marin County to stop and meet up with Molly in San Rafael. Really awesome getting to reconnect with her. Originally she wasn't going to get much time to hang out, but some good luck allowed us a solid half hour or more of reminiscing. Molly's great idea: all the family kids organizing a trip together and all their own somewhere.... Sounds awesome.

Following, we were off for some beautiful driving through Norcal forest (lots of good pictures and videos here) and a couple stops off the road for some rock skipping and outdoor guitar music.

Finally, Garberville. Garberville is about an hour and a half or so south of Eureka. There we met up with Kyle and Sean's friend Simone, her boyfriend Keeba, and their awesome dingo-like dog Chickeree. They live an awesome lifestyle 30 mins out along this windy dirt road in the forest. Outstanding people. They both seriously know how to use a kitchen and serve visitors looking for a life less hectic and removed. Both Simone and Keeba are incredibly knowledgeable about the land and are looking to have a farm of their own. Walking through the forest gave Sean, Kyle, and myself time to learn about all sorts of edible plants that grow in the thick forest around them. A budding orchid and blooming strawberries were some cool finds. They'll tell you all there is to know regarding your sign and compatibility with others, too. Listening to Simone read from their many books and was really awesome and thought provoking -- it seemed to induce a good creative flow for Kyle and myself with our own writing and music. Recommendations to remember: Ween's The Mollusk, the book "Western Garden", and the Trinidad campground north of Arcata. . . our next stop . . . .

On the drive from Garberville to Arcata, we took the Avenue of Giants and had a fun break from the car for some nature video and photography....

Music:
Creedence Clearwater Revival, Little Richard, Bob Dylan, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Animal Collective's "Sung Tongs".

So long for now...
